Freitas Closed Temporarily: What Comes Next

I just received a mass email saying that the Freitas Ice Forum has been temporarily closed due to snow accumulation on the roof.

This afternoon, it was decided that due to visible snow retention on its roof, the Freitas Ice Forum on the Storrs campus will be closed until further assessment can be made. Events scheduled to occur in the rink will be postponed to a later date.  Further updates will be shared as they become available.

Currently, I am planning to attend the Men’s Ice Hockey game vs. Army on Saturday night and the Women’s Ice Hockey game vs. Northeastern on Sunday afternoon. But now that remains in question. While it’s hard to speculate, we play away at Army the night before we host them, but after that don’t face them the remainder of the year. So it’s possible that the Saturday game will be played at West Point, perhaps with us being designated the “home” team. As for the women, we play at Northeastern on February 19th before hosting them on the 20th. It’s possible (again, I don’t know) that they’ll switch those two around, playing in Boston on Sunday and at home on the 19th. We’ll see.
